Location: Columbiahalle, Berlin
Support: Carcass + Hell
On the 27th November I went to see Amon Amarth for the third time.
The location was easily to reach, because the subway led close to it.
To be honested I expected the hall to be bigger, but it was lovely.
really like the fact, that smoking wasn't allowed in there (although
some stupid people did so) and that the air condition was pretty good.
Starting of with Hell, which played a 30 minutes set -
they were pretty nice and some people already started to get warm with them, especially a
woman on the gallery. I really appreciate how the singer interacted with her
Alas, the stage was a little bit small to move
Going on with Carcass - they were cool. I really think they're a good live band,
and I think that it was a pretty nice idea to show this videos of surgeries on little towers, while displaying the cover of surgical steel in the background.
The fans were headbanging so hardly, myself included !
But now to the reason I went to the concert !Amon Amarth
These amazing guys impressed me a third time !
The setlist was awesome, because the band chose songs from
Versus the World to Deceiver of the Gods.
I also really love how creative the guys are when it comes to the stage.
They used 3 backgrounds fitting to the songs (Deceiver of the Gods Cover, Surtur Rising Cover and Vikings)
When they played Runes to my memory, the rune stones with glowing (red and blue) runes (!) became magical.
Although Johan Hegg didn't talk as much as in the other shows it was perfect -
and it was sad to listen to the last songs like Twillight of the Thunder God (where Hegg used Mjölnir again),Source
but not even the stupid moshers, pushers and tall people, who stood in my way can reduce the awesomeness of this evening !
"Heimdall gazes east
A sail has caught his eye
He lifts his hand and sounds the horn
The undead army has arrived
Here comes Nagelfar
With Laufrey’s son on board
He brings chaos, hate and wrath
He brings the war to end all wars
Heimdall knows his fate
The end of all nine worlds"
